📚 How to Fix Android Emulator Lag on PC

Emulator stutter almost always comes from one of a few fixable causes: virtualization disabled in BIOS, too little or too much allocated RAM, the wrong graphics renderer, an oversized resolution, or a mechanical hard drive. Working through them in order usually restores smooth performance without new hardware.

Enable virtualization in BIOS first

This is the single biggest fix. Intel VT-x or AMD-V lets the emulator use hardware acceleration instead of slow software emulation, and it is disabled by default on many machines. Reboot into BIOS or UEFI setup, find the setting under CPU or Advanced options, enable it, and save. On Windows, also check whether Hyper-V or memory integrity is conflicting, since some emulators need a specific configuration to coexist with them.

Tune RAM, CPU cores and renderer

Allocate roughly half your system RAM and half your physical cores to the emulator, never all of it, because Windows still needs headroom. Then try switching the graphics renderer between DirectX, OpenGL and Vulkan, since the best one depends on your GPU and driver, and the difference can be dramatic. Update your graphics driver too. If frames still drop, cap the frame rate rather than letting it swing.

Resolution, storage and background load

Lower the emulator's resolution and DPI to something like 1280x720; rendering fewer pixels is the cheapest performance win available. Install the emulator and its virtual disk on an SSD, because a mechanical drive causes long stalls during loading. Finally, close browsers and background apps, disable overlays and recording software, and set your Windows power plan to high performance instead of balanced.

Questions fréquentes

Why is my emulator slow even on a good PC?

Most often virtualization is still disabled in BIOS, or the renderer does not match your GPU. Both are settings problems rather than hardware limits, so check them before upgrading anything.

Does giving the emulator more RAM always help?

No. Over-allocating starves Windows and causes swapping, which makes stutter worse. Around half your total RAM is a sensible ceiling for most systems.
